Come and meet some very interesting characters with very different backgrounds and needs. But most importantly, come and meet Jesus as he interacts with these people. As Rico Tice puts it, "meet Jesus as he walks of the pages of [the gospels]"...

On 19th May we set apart Steve Hawkins and Phil Harman as elders of Gateway Church Wrexham.

The Bible teaches that the local church is to be governed by elders, who serve as undershepherds of the Lord Jesus, the Good Shepherd.
Paul warns Timothy "Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands".
P-J Smyth says "An elder is recognised and appointed when three different groups acknowledge eldership gifting and character on a man: apostles (Acts 14:23, Titus 1:5), other elders (1 Timothy 4:14), and the local congregation."
We hold public meetings for worship and prayer at 7.30pm every Tuesday, interspersed with regular social events.
Schedule for January-March 2012
All meetings start at 7.30pm.
Venue for first three Tuesdays of each month
Venue for last Tuesday of each month*

GATEWAY CHURCH WREXHAM CELEBRATES FIRST FIVE YEARS
On Sunday 10th October, Gateway Church is marking its 5th birthday with a special guest service to celebrate God's goodness. This will take place at 10.30am in the Catrin Finch Centre on the Glyndŵr University campus, and absolutely anyone and everyone from the local community is warmly invited.

Matt Chandler makes a personal, passionate and urgent plea for gospel clarity. Watch it here.
A brilliant new album from Lou Fellingham...
A little book that has been a big influence for me of late is John Piper's The Dangerous Duty of Delight. At the centre of this concise apologetic for Piper's "Christian Hedonism" is a devastating quote from C.S. Lewis:
Guest Service
Sunday 11th July
10.30am
Catrin Finch Centre
"And you, who were dead in your trespasses ... God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him." -- Colossians 2:13-15 (ESV)
Online video: How important is worship to you and the leaders of your church?
Do people think of you as a worshipper? Aren't there more important things for you and your church leaders to be doing? Isn't worship just a soppy inward looking thing?
Sometimes our gospel is just too small. If we're not careful, we can take a story about Jesus rescuing creation, and reduce it into a story about me...
We can turn stories into statements, and poems into punchlines. We can miss the sweeping, triumphant, heartbreaking and glorious stories that make up the gospel of God.
But the biblical gospel, the real one, is a stunning mosaic of GodStories. It's about sins forgiven, shame removed, beauty restored and meaning reinstated. It's about God's kingdom, his mission, his temple and his victory.
Family Bible Weekend
Borderlands Region
Friday 4th to Sunday 6th June
Cefn Lea, Nr Newtown, Mid Wales
Together at Borderlands 2010 is just one of several family Bible weekend events around the nation which are providing opportunities to share our values as a family of churches and welcome interested friends.
In April we began a sermon series themed on who Jesus is and what he has done. Come along and hear why your Jesus is too small!
What is it that makes Jesus so special and why are we devoting a whole sermon series to him? To us it's simple: Jesus is magnificent, supreme, glorious, and precious; we want to know him better; and we want you to know him too!
Steve King's Baptism
Sunday 23rd May
6pm (tea at 5pm)
Chester Street Baptist Church
Come and celebrate with us as we baptise Steve King on his profession of faith in Jesus. The service will start at 6pm, should end before 8pm, and will be preceded by a light tea at 5pm.
Why do we baptise people? If you have not been baptised and would like to know more, please come along to see what is involved. You can also read some background information here.
We're grateful to Chester Street Baptist Church for the use of their facilities. For directions...
A brilliant song by Mark Altrogge that we'll introduce at Gateway in the coming weeks.
I first heard this song on the Newfrontiers "Praise Is Rising" album, but it's also on "Music For The Cross Centered Life" from Sovereign Grace Music. It's not particularly new, but we sang it at the May 2010 Prayer & Fasting conference a couple of weeks ago. I don't think we've sung it at Gateway before...
Guest Service
Easter Sunday (4th April)
10.30am

What is Easter all about? Can there be more to it than chicks, bunnies and chocolate? And why are Christians so obsessed with the death and resurrection of Jesus? What could the cross and empty tomb possibly have to do with me? Find out more at our Easter Sunday celebration, where a warm welcome, answers and possibly even some chocolate awaits you!
Jesus said: "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends." -- John 15:13 (ESV)

Dedication Service
Sunday 7th February
10.30am
Catrin Finch Centre
Glyndwr University
What's a "Dedication Service" all about? Here's an extract from Mark's Gospel that shows us how Jesus thinks of children...
Due to the snow, our main worship service on 10th January will now be held at 3pm in Chester Street Baptist Church...
We're told that Glyndŵr University will remain closed until Tuesday 12th January, so we've had to postpone our new year launch at the Catrin Finch Centre until Sunday 17th January.
Obviously we're a little disappointed, but we're also very grateful to our friends at Chester Street and give thanks to God for their help at such short notice.
Please make every effort to join with us to worship the God who is to be praised in all times, seasons and places! And just in case you need it, here's a map to help you find your way...
We started a new preaching series in January. Here's what John Piper says about Paul's most direct and controversial letter...
Galatians is alive. I mean that in Galatians Paul is at his most vigorous. The sheer emotional force of the book has captured me again and again over the years. You can't read the first ten verses without feeling that something utterly important is at stake.
Gateway Church has an exciting new venue ...
We are still at Glyndwr University, but will be moving to the Catrin Finch Centre, a new £3m state-of-the-art conference and performance centre which opened its doors in March 2009. Come along and check it out!
